Today marks 25 years since the terror attacks on September 11, 2001. As we all know, thousands of people died in the attacks on 9/11, which marked a turning point in the American psyche. After our wars on terror and a great many more conflicts, both past and ongoing, we must conclude that the significance of the 9/11 attacks cannot be understated. But we are all still here. We worked to make our world safe for us again. We persevered, despite a heartbreaking tragedy, to keep our country, the symbol of liberty throughout the world, safe and strong. On this day, we not only remember those who tragically lost their lives on 9/11, but we thank everyone who has gone on to make the United States and the world a safer place. In parting, I have a request for everyone: be proud that you are an American. Take pride in our shared heritage of individuality and personal liberty. These things are our way of life; appreciate them to the fullest, and allow others to appreciate them, too. It is our obligation and right as Americans to live freely, so let us live in liberty for another 250 years and more!
